Subject choice and Career thinking skills

Subject choice and Career thinking skills

It is important to give thought to how to structure a matric curriculum in order to understand the impact of your choices. This talk will focus on different options, the issue of maths vs maths literacy, the requirements for University courses and how to think about your own academic strengths and interests.

Speaker: Lois Bloch (Ed. Psych)

I am an Educational Psychologist based in an inclusive school in the southern suburbs. My role is multi – faceted in that I provide counselling support to individual children, families and staff as well as being involved in the Learning Team which oversees the needs of the school.

My individual work utilises art making, story and play as growth tools, helping children move towards integration and emotional expression.

I worked part – time at the U.C.T Careers Service as an advisor, primarily managing the Pre – Admissions side for 16 years. In this time I worked with individual clients ranging from Grade 11 learners to mid-life career changers.
